About
Citizens

Welcome to the Citizens Community

Citizens doesn’t begin and end when the bell rings. It runs through morning coffees with parents, mentor relationships that last beyond a year, and a wider community of families building something together. Here’s how it works, and how to be part of it.

Parents as Partners

Parents at Citizens are part of the learning journey, not bystanders to it. Every family is automatically a member of the Citizens Parents’ Association (CPA),  the community body that connects parents to the school and to each other.

Parents are involved in real ways.

  • Joining Senior Leadership Team meetings to share input on their child’s progress.
  • Mentoring on entrepreneurship projects when their experience is relevant.
  • Coming together at events that celebrate the community we’re building together.

The Parents Advisory Group (PAG) takes this further. It’s a group of parent representatives who meet regularly with school leadership to give structured feedback, raise concerns, and help shape decisions. It’s how we make sure parent voices reach the room where things get decided.

What our parents say about Citizens

Seen. Safe. Supported.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care at Citizens runs through every layer of the school. The Wellbeing Centre — a 1,100 m² dedicated facility — offers structured support for learners, parents, and mentors alike, from mental health resources to one-to-one care. But care also runs through everyday classroom life: in how mentors greet learners at the door, how friendships are guided in the early years, and how harder conversations are held when they’re needed.

Safeguarding

The safety and dignity of every child at Citizens is non-negotiable. We follow KHDA and UK safeguarding frameworks, with named Designated Safeguarding Leads, a Safeguarding Governor, and regular training for every adult in the building. Concerns are taken seriously, acted on quickly, and followed through. Parents are part of the process from the moment a question is raised.

We’ve partnered up with the Safeguarding Alliance, an organisation who are dedicated to promoting high standards of safeguarding. Find out more at thesafeguardingalliance.org.uk.

Safeguarding Commitment Statement

“Citizens School Dubai is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers, and third-party providers to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be subject to thorough background checks, including references and appropriate child protection screening as required by UAE laws.”

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging (DEIJB) Commitment Statement

“At Citizens School Dubai, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, nationality, disability, or religion. We are dedicated to a culture of belonging, equity, and justice for all members of our school community.”

Inclusion

Different needs.
One community.

Citizens is rated Good by KHDA for inclusion of students of determination. Every learner, whether they need additional support, are gifted and talented, or are learning English as an additional language, has a pathway designed around them, with the Inclusion Team coordinating closely with mentors and parents.

We work with three differentiated learning pathways to make sure every learner accesses learning and life skills at the right level. For more information on how this works inside the classroom lives on the Curriculum page.

A Culture of Inclusion

At Citizens School you will discover a culture of inclusion that embraces all learners. We are proud to have created a positive and wide-ranging learning environment that can be specifically adapted to the requirements of every individual.

Not simply one department or programme, our Inclusion and Wellbeing team provide professional guidance to colleagues throughout the school in order to secure the highest quality of teaching. By implementing the effective use of different resources and interventions, we are able to bring about improved standards of achievement for all our learners and help them to discover individual talents and areas of strength.
