A Personalised Curriculum for Citizens of the Future
Citizens’ learning experience has been specifically crafted to offer a personalised curriculum where every child is given the opportunity to thrive. We recognise that all learners are talented in their own special way and we’re dedicated to implementing a system that identifies the potential within every child and nurturing it in the most effective way.
Explore New Interests and Broaden Essential Skills
At Citizens we’re dedicated to shaping the minds and skill sets of the citizens of tomorrow. Our unique approach allows learners to explore new interests whilst also developing essential skills and mindsets. Within our Future Framework, a bespoke curriculum prepares children for challenges by giving them the tools and educational foundation needed for success in the future.
We follow the British National Curriculum, covering EYFS to Year 7. In the 2024/25 academic year, Citizens School will be expanding to Year 8 (and each year after that) to ensure our learners are armed with the qualifications needed to continue their learning at top universities in the UK and around the globe. The Building Blocks of Learning
FS1 and FS2 are for children aged 3 to 5 and focus on child-centred spaces that empower successful learners, enquirers, explorers, and investigators.
EYFS
Early Years Foundation Stage
Explorers Learn the Importance of Investigation and Collaboration
At Citizens School, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) features a holistic experience designed to engage children in response to their developmental, emotional, and social needs. Within the learning environment, children are enabled and empowered to make choices, develop their curiosity, explore their ideas, and investigate their interests.
Within FS1 and FS2 there are three Prime areas of focus, including Communication and Language; Physical Development; and Personal, Social, and Emotional Development. Four more specific areas explored within the curriculum include Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design. As learners progress to FS2, there is greater attention paid to specific areas in order to better prepare them for the next stage of learning.
The Individual Journey Evolves
In the primary age groups (Years 1 to 6), learners develop a greater understanding of core subjects, whilst honing their critical thinking skills and discovering individual passions.
Primary
The Key Stages of Primary
Following the British National Curriculum, primary age groups are divided into Key Stage 1 (KS1 – Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (KS2 – Years 3, 4, 5, and 6). KS1 graduates from the EYFS to a more specific subject-based learning environment. Learners delve deeper into the core curriculum with exciting and stimulating lessons that go beyond traditional instruction. We invite learners to really discover what motivates them in these early years.
As we progress through primary and transition to KS2, we encourage children to build upon prior knowledge and apply new-found skills to help solve challenges. At Citizens School, learners are supported as they create their own pathways; using knowledge and imagination to overcome hurdles and break through barriers. We place a high emphasis on inquisitive learning, connecting the dots between what they already know and what they’re still discovering, in a way that values every learner’s contribution and uplifts the learning environment as a whole.
Where Independent Discovery is Honed
From 2024 Citizens School will be expanding to offer education to Year 8 and expanding each additional year thereafter.
Secondary
A Curriculum Recognised by the World’s Top Institutions
From 2024, we’ll be offering different pathways and a wide range of challenging subjects for learners aged 11 to 12 to develop the skills and confidence to succeed in the next stage of their educational journey. Our specialised team is experienced in their subjects and qualified to prepare learners for the IGCSE exams in Year 11.
Eventually Year 12 and Year 13 learners can either work to achieve an International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD) or choose to follow the GCE Advanced Level (A Levels).
The IBD is a well-rounded and rigorous course that’s recognised globally and ensures those who receive it are well-versed in the skills, knowledge, and understanding needed to be an informed global citizen. A second pathway is also available for those learners wishing to continue their education at the university level. The A Level programme at Citizens allows for further study within particular subjects of interest and is recognised by the top universities in the UK and around the world.
Note: Year 8 to be opened in academic year 2024/25 with an expansion of each additional year every academic year thereafter.
